May 2015 Incoming and Outgoing Mail

Hello!

A really really quick round up of my incoming and outgoing mail this month because I’ve not been as active as I should have been! At the beginning of the month I focused on getting my #Postcircl mail out, so my Postcrossing postcards fell by the wayside for a few weeks! I’ve caught up with everything now though so hopefully June will bring more happymail to my door!

Outgoing:

As I mentioned, the first outgoing mail that I sent was my #Postcircle bundle. The letters were only brief this time round but I did write to everyone in my group which is what I was aiming to do. I’d got so far behind in my replies that I had loads to reply to so I’m thrilled I’m finally back on track! Hopefully this means that going forward I can reply as soon as a letter falls through my door to ensure I can spend more time putting together a lovely little parcel like the ones I receive!

May 2015 Goals

Hello!

A little later than anticipated but here is my round up of my April goals and how I did! Also, goal setting for May too!

April Outcomes:

Once Upon a Time Sampler – No progress on this one sadly! I didn’t manage to get those last two frames in because I was spending all of my time working on my Barcelona Sunset as that is my priority right now. I am staying with my parents this weekend though so I am packing my sampler with me since I obviously can’t work on my Mum’s present! I have saved this month’s design to stitch while I am here but if I get that done before the end of the weekend I might have time to add a frame too.

Storytime Sampler

Barcelona Sunset – I am so close to finishing this quarter right now! i just have a block of grey across the bottom that no matter how much I stitch it just doesn’t seem to get any smaller! However, I should be on track to finish this quarter by the end of next week at the very latest (since I am losing this weekend!) so then I’ll be ready to tackle the final one. Continue reading

I’ve been in touch with Clare over atSewdixie Louso all us Northern Sewers can join the Spoolettes! If you’ve not heard of the Spoolettes then click on the link. They have lots of fun and we can too!

So where & when are we meeting……

Why Dewsbury?

What’s it got to offer…..

Dewsbury is market town which also has 2 amazing fabric shops. Market Days are Wednesdays and Saturdays hence the meet up on a Wednesday. For those who have a proper job and don’t work shifts like me, if this works…

Very Berry Handmade ATC Swap 2 (and a winner…)

A few months ago I signed up to take part in the second instalment of Very Berry’s fabric ATC swaps. After having so much fun the first time, I couldn’t wait to take part again! I have been meaning to share pictures for ages now but I never got round to it!

First of all, here is the one that I made for Angela of Pretty Little Things in a Box. I have been a follower of her blog for ages now and she was the person who intro Swap-bot and Postcrossing, so I have been desperately hoping that we would get paired for a swap eventually, and what a wonderful one to be paired for!

I know that she likes fairies, so I picked a fairy from the ‘Autumn’ section of my Fairy Cross Stitch book (we both love cross stitching too!) and I made this for her:

A Made in China Giveaway

Cute giveaway!

Agujas

One of my favorite pastimes in China was shopping in local markets. The chaotic aisles and aggressive salespeople in the touristy markets got old after a while. The local markets were much calmer. They were still busy but mostly filled with locals who needed basic household items. While haggling was still expected, the starting prices were usually much more reasonable.

As I wandered the aisles, I found these bags that I thought would be perfect for knitting projects. There were all sorts of patterns and color schemes. The size is just right for 4-5 balls of yarn and a small project, like a hat or scarf.

China Knitting Bag

I love the drawstring top and inside zippered catchall pocket.

It’s easy to clean – just wipe with a damp cloth. It has this nifty side pocket for needles or a pattern.

Then I came across these tin pencil boxes. Some had hinged lids…
