Kawaii Halloween Swap

Hello!

Since it is Halloween tomorrow I thought I would share with you the items that I sent and received in the Kawaii Halloween Swap! This was a swap organised on Instagram a few months ago and I couldn’t resist signing up! Halloween is my favourite holiday and I cannot resist anything Kawaii so it was the perfect swap for me! Thanks to a drop up shortly after sign ups I manage to steal a last minute spot for the swap and I was thrilled! It was the first Instagram craft swap I had taken part in and it was a great experience – I’d definitely get involved in another one in the future!

Here are the items that I sent to my partner Snow:

All

As usual, I had planned to make loads of stuff that I didn’t have time to complete before the shipping deadline! But overall I was pleased with everything that I put together for the package and Snow really seemed to like everything which was great. I’m always anxious my partner will be disappointed with what I send!

Here is a closer look at everything I included: Continue reading

Once Upon A Time in Crochet

Once Upon A Time in Crochet 01

Once Upon A Time in Crochet is an adorable collection of crochet amigurumi projects from those timeless fairytales that we all know and love. I had initially been eyeing up this book because I’d always said that when I have kids I would want a fairytale themed nursery (although I’ not going to need that for about a decade I’m hoping!) As a literature lover all things that amalgamate my two loves, reading and crafts, always peaks my interest and this one certainly didn’t disappoint! The moment I first picked it up and started flicking through it made me want to pick up my hook and get started!

While the boy is away…

Hello!

Sorry I’ve been missing recently…life seems so busy at the moment! Anyway, here is a summary of what I have been up to while I’ve been away, but it is also what I have been doing while James was away too! I had the house to myself for two weeks while he was away in the US at some conferences so I had some good quality time with my craft room in his absence!

Although, before I show you what I was doing while he was away, I just wanted to show you our last project together before he left…chocolate making!

Chocolate 1

This year I am on a mission to make as many of my Christmas presents as possible, and after a trip to the York’s Chocolate Story I was really eager to have a go at making my own chocolates. I want to put together a variety box of filled chocolates to give as gifts at Christmas, so our first experiment was with these parcels filled with white chocolate ganache. This was actually our second attempt, however, we did perfect them and we were really pleased with the result! And they tasted VERY good! I have now bought a mold for some dark chocolate hearts with a strawberry cream centre, then next month I’ll be buying one to fill with caramel! By Christmas we should have a good range of recipes to put together a selection of boxes to give as gifts. We’ll just have to keep practicing and sampling in the mean time!

Crafty What Nots – Springtime Posy

Hello! Sorry I have been MIA over the last week or so! I’ve been working really hard to achieve some of my monthly goals – I promise! But I did realise earlier today that I never showed you what I made from the latest Crafty What Nots box! Due to when Easter fell this year I never got round to posting what I made, but this is how me and James spent Easter Sunday!Baskets

The first thing that we made were these adorable little Easter baskets! How cute are they??? I love these and they are cute for popping a few little Easter goodies in or great for little ones on an Easter egg hunt! Continue reading

A love affair with my sewing machine (including my first wearable!)

Since attending the blogger meet up in Dewsbury, I have felt inspired to dust off my sewing machine and finish some projects that have been ongoing for quite some time now. I’d put a few sewing projects on hold because I either still needed some bits and pieces to get them finished, or I hadn’t found a day that I could set aside to get my sewing machine out. However, recently I have felt motivated to get some of my abandoned projects finished and checked of my WIP list!

The Yorkshire Spoolettes Blogger Meet Up!

Hello! I hope you’ve all had a wonderful week? I know I have because on Wednesday I went to my first ever blogger meet up! When I lived in Hull there didn’t seem to be much of a blogging community, so I was thrilled when I heard that Ali from Thimberlina was arranging a sewing bloggers meet up in Dewsbury…just ten minutes down the road from where I now live!

And look how many people turned up! At various points throughout the day there was a total of 15 people there which was wonderful! It was great to be introduced to a like minded community of sewers…I learnt a lot from them! In the photo above we have, left to right – Margaret, Katrina, Corrine, Rachel, Amanda, Ali, Jeanie, Katharine, Nee, Me, Fiona and Dee. Not all of the ladies are bloggers but for the ones who are I will link up the blogs below…make sure to check them all out! Continue reading
