Hello!
I hope you’re all doing well 🙂 I can’t believe June is here already! Where is 2015 going??? Almost half way there already! Anyway, here is the roundup of my May goals so you can see how I did, as well as my goal setting for June – these lists seem to be growing and growing!
May Outcomes:
Once Upon a Time Sampler – In May my aim was just to fill in the square for that month and I managed that without any problems. I seem to fly through these at the beginning of each month then it gets shelved and almost forgotten until the next month comes round! It’s a shame because it is such a lovely project and I do want to dedicate more time to it to get all of the extra elements in but until the Barcelona Sunset is out of the way it will have to wait!
Barcelona Sunset – This month I wasn’t too far off my goal. I still had some of the third quarter to finish off which I did, then I wanted to complete half of the next quarter. Ideally, I wanted to get the lizard stitched in so that I just had the big grey wall at the bottom to finish off this month. I didn’t quite make it there due to illness and various other things taking up my time in May, however, I’m really pleased with what I achieved. If I hadn’t been full of cold for the last five days I would have managed to fill in that grey section that I’m working on, and I would have felt satisfied with that, but I’m prepared to let it go because I still feel rubbish!
Exercise – This one has kind of happened, and in all honesty I couldn’t have done any more. I still haven’t finished my 30 Day Shred, mainly because I lost a good portion of time thanks to this cold that won’t go away, but also because my ankle protested when I started my running training and I lost another week there because I was limping! When my cold finally clears up I fully intend to get back on track with it; it is starting to get urgent that I get my running training on track to complete the 10k in July!
Slimming World – I’m thrilled with the results I have seen with Slimming World in May! Today was my weigh in and I have officially hit the 1 stone mark! (And beaten it by 2lb!) I can’t believe that I’m over a whole stone lighter than I was when I first started at Easter! Just by making some changes to my diet and lifestyle! I’m definitely sticking to it to try and reach my goal weight; that’s still a long way off yet but it seems more and more achievable as I’m consistently losing weight each week!
Reading – In May my aim was to finish two books and I succeeded with this goal too! I finished reading The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher: or the Murder at Road Hill House which I really enjoyed. It was a pretty easy read and it was a fascinating way to read about the history of the Road Hill Murder. Following that I read The Woman in Black: Angel of Death (Hammer) a sequel to Susan Hill’s classic ghost tale. I love Susan Hill’s ghost stories; I think she is one of very few modern writers who is able to capture the atmosphere of the classic Victorian ghost tales – one of my absolute favourite genres. The sequel, not written by Hill, was always going to have a lot to live up to and I always knew that it was going to fall short of what Hill created. Overall, the book is not going to win any awards for the quality of writing, but nevertheless it is a gripping story and an easy read that only took me a couple of days to get through. I didn’t think I would enjoy this book but actually I found that once I started I couldn’t put it down. It was clear that it had been produced alongside the film that came out shortly after the book release as it very much read with the intention of leaving a visual impression, but overall I found it a lot better than I expected it would be.
Get Organised – Another goal that I feel like I can cross off! I still haven’t dug out my Filofax again, but I did get a lot of my other organisational goals done. Everything bill-wise has been renewed since Saturday marks a year to the day that we officially got the keys to our house…where has that year gone seriously?? We have also sat down to work out a financial plan to help us move forward with some savings as well as getting James’s overdraft paid off – now we just have to stick to it! As a shopaholic I fear that I may struggle with it for the first few months but we will see!
Spring Cleaning – We have managed to get as far as making a start on this one – the kitchen and the bathroom have all had the cupboards emptied and decluttered so that’s a couple crossed off the list! I have almost finished sorting out my clothes too and we have thoroughly tidied the living room (which involved digging out the dining table from underneath a mountain of craft supplies!) Overall it’s a good start, but we still have a long way to go!
June Goals:
Once Upon a Time Sampler – Again, this month I just want to get the square filled in. I have already made a start so hopefully it will only take me a couple of evenings to get it done – I love how quick these are this year! This month’s design is Peter Pan and it is adorable as always!
Barcelona Sunset – My aim for this month isn’t to finish the cross stitch. Originally that was what I wanted to achieve, but I am going away for three nights this month so I will lose almost a week with the travel and packing so I think finishing it would be pushing it. What I would like to do is to complete the lizard that I had hoped to do last month, and to stitch in half of the grey wall at the bottom. As it is a big block of grey, my stitching will be pretty slow anyway (you know how much I hate those blocks of grey!) but luckily I’m well ahead of schedule with this project so I can afford to be a little bit behind.
Kawaii Halloween Swap – So, as if I didn’t have enough to work on right now, I have signed up to a craft swap on Instagram! These things are notoriously hard to get into if you’re not following the right people and I kept missing the signups! However, I did manage to snatch a last minute place in the Kawaii Halloween swap when someone dropped out and I was so pleased as Halloween is definitely my favourite holiday! I have already crafted one small extra for the swap, and this month my aim is to craft three more little projects to add to the box. Again, I am starting the little projects now to get me ahead so it isn’t a rush as we get to October when it needs posting out! Although I am doubling my workload because I agreed to be a post angel in case anyone fails to send a parcel. My theory behind this was that if I craft two of everything, I have an angel parcel ready if needed, but if I don’t need it, I have completed all of the Halloween projects that I have wanted to do but never got round to and I will have a wonderful selection of Halloween decorations…win win, right?
Christmas – I know the ‘C’ word has cropped up casually a couple of times already on my blog, but now we are into June I’m officially accepting that it is on its way and there is no avoiding it! I have set myself the ambitious task of making all of my Christmas presents this year, so get anywhere near achieving this I will have to make an early start! I have already made a few as the fancy has taken me, but it is now time for me to sit down and plan what I need to make when to meet my target and to complete all of the projects that I want to. This month I want to firm up a project timeline between now and Christmas, as well and working on the projects that I can start now, particularly my Christmas cards because I’m going to need a lot of them!
Handmade Wardrobe – Again, I have a lot of projects in mind for my handmade wardrobe that I am working on, some of which have been cut out, and others where I have bought the supplies but they are just sat waiting to be started. This month I’d like to make three items of clothing, one of them being my Jump into June Jumpsuit that I have signed myself up for! Although I’m warning you now, mine will be a romper/playsuit rather than a long jumpsuit – yes, I’m cheating but I look horrendous in long-leg jumpsuits I promise!
Exercise – The main aim with this one is to get that running training in. I do want to finish my 30 Day Shred and keep up regular fitness DVDs to keep improving my fitness level, but my main focus is to get me up to a comfortable 7K. Before the event in mid July I hope to be able to manage 8K without any problems, as I know from past experience that the atmosphere on the day helps to spur you on beyond what you can normally do, but right now I have a long way to go to get anywhere near!
Slimming World – This month I’d just like to continue to see consistent weight loss each week. The amount of weight I am losing each week has now reduced to about 1lb a week, which is what I was expecting so I’m not holding out for anything dramatic, but as long as the numbers keep going down I’ll be pleased 🙂 By the end of the month I should be seeing the scales dip under 12 stone so to get into the 11s would be perfect but I’m just going to see how it goes!
Reading – I’ve decided not to set a reading goal this month. I still want to find a book that I can enjoy and get stuck into, but for now I’m just going to enjoy reading when I feel like it!
Spring Cleaning – I really want to carry on with the start we have made on the decluttering and get some more things crossed off the list. I really want to finish sorting my clothes because I’m only one drawer away from having that one finished, and ideally I’d like to get the craft room done as this room is really in need! If I can get all of that done I’d also like to work on my vanity in the bedroom as that is currently buried beneath a load of stuff too but that might be pretty ambitious on top of everything else!
Phew…I do like a challenge don’t I! I’ll keep you posted on my progress! What are you most excited to see? What do you want to achieve in June?
Good luck with your goals! My main goals aren’t crafty- keep up with my PhD timetable(so glad I’ve got one right now!), and be ready to move house! Really excited!
Blimey! They sound like intense goals! Good luck!
Well done Hannah on your achievements last month, you’re an inspiration!! I’ve already completed one of my June goals which was to send out #postcircle letters which were long overdue so keep an eye out for incoming mail in the next few days! I’ve got an assignment due in mid August so want to make a start on that. Plus a few sewing projects to complete or make a start on. Hopefully one the weather appears to have got back on track I can also start painting the fence which has been on hold since Winter made an unseasonable return!! Hope your feeling much better xx
Hehe thank you Debbie! It would be a miracle if I got them all done but I do like a challenge! I hope the weather stays nice so you can get your fence painted 🙂 there’s nothing more satisfying than getting a goal crossed off your list! Yes definitely feeling much better thanks! xx
You’ve inspired me to write my own goals for June! Thanks for the great post 🙂
Woo! It’s seems so definite to have things written down…I seem to work harder towards achieving them! Thanks for stopping by…I’ll hope over to your post after work tonight 🙂
